CROP ROTATION
Crop rotation is recommended along with other strategies such as alternating for example rows of watermelons with rows of leeks, or some spring onions amongst the brocolli. This will go a long way in preventing populations of certain types of microbes to explose creating disease conditions. Have a look at two of our other products, namely Microlife LM- AM Insects and Microlife LM- AM Leaf Boost when you do encounter a problem. The first will deal with problem insects and the other issues such as leave spots or fungi.
DESCRIPTION, APPEARANCE AND STORAGE
Microlife LM- AM Vegetables contains EM·1® as an ingredient. Microlife LM- AM Vegetables is supplied in ready to use containers. It has a brown appearance and a pleasant smell reminiscent of molasses which is an ingredient of manufacture. It has a slightly acidic taste and smell. It is normal and desirable for small white accretions or small flakes to be present as actinomycetes are a desirable ingredient.
Keep the containers sealed. When possible decant leftover smaller amounts into smaller containers to avoid exposure to oxygen in the air. When Microlife LM- AM Vegetableshas not been used within three to six months and its effectiveness is in doubt perform a germination test. To extend their life the microbes can be fed by adding a 20 to 30% molasses syrup dilution to the batch, sealing and leaving the product to balance for approximately twee weeks. Do not expose to direct sunlight because UV rays kill microorganisms. If the product has a bad smell do not use it, but disinfect the batch with vinegar or diluted hydrochloric acid and dispose in an environmentally friendly manner or contact us for advice.
Unused leftover nut still usable Microlife LM- AM Vegetables can be used in the microbe tank of a compost turner such as a Ritlee compost turner or used to make compost in a pit or a heap at least 1.5 metres high. It can also be added to a pit toilet or a french drain to suppress smells.
APPLICATION
When diluting there must be little to no temperature variation between the product and the water to avoid detrimental thermal shock. Dilute with water from a chlorine-free source.
The Microlife LM- AM Vegetables can be applied through foliar spray or through irrigation lines.
A variety of seeds can be pre-treated before germination with Microlife LM- AM Vegetables at a 0.1% dilution, soaking small seeds for 15 minutes and larger seeds for 2 hours. The dilution is approximately 100ml Microlife LM- AM Vegetables per 100-litre water. This is a rough indication and a more precise guideline can be developed on a case by case basis through on-site trials.
As the plants grow bigger increase dilution to 1 litre per 5’000 litre water to 1 litre per 10’000 litre water in the irrigation or as a foliage spray and once the soil is healthy dilute up to 1:100’000 to maintain health, using stronger mixtures to address a specific localized problem
Microlife LM- AM Vegetables has a hormonal effect similar to that of gibberellic acid enhancing the emergence and vigour of seeds. The higher the concentration the slower the germination which is a hormonal effect. Root development is more promoted as a result of the hormonal effects. When applying as a foliar spray prior to flowering this hormonal effect can be perfected through trial and error, where a weak mixture will cause more flowers and smaller fruit and a stronger dilution. More Microlife LM- AM Vegetables in up to 1: part to 500 parts water or more will inhibit flowers and produce less but bigger fruit. It will also be seen that Microlife LM- AM Vegetables treated seeds will appear later than with conventional methods but this is because root development takes precedence where-after foliage develops, and cell walls should be thicker making plants less susceptible to diseases or severe injury and infection from insects. It has been observed that Microlife LM – AM Vegetables increases predation by wasps on certain problem caterpillars.
Microlife LM- AM Vegetables can be used in traps to catch fruit flies. The actinomycetes in Microlife LM- AM Vegetables feed on the soft skin of young insect larvae causing them to die of secondary infections and can in some case greatly reduce insect damage, especially when used with our products specifically developed for this purpose.
